Testimonials from Students of Sing the Body Instrument:
My daughter's audition went great!
Thank you so much for working with her on this! This was her first audition, but something tells me it will not be her last!
I first started taking classes with you while living in Harrison, AR. Two years later I moved to Portland and continued vocal lessons with you. Thanks for all your help with knowledge and wisdom with singing, health, and life!
You make the world a better place.
I lost my voice after surgery on my vocal cords.
My doctor suggested that I take vocal lessons after removing a node from my vocal cords. One cord was partially paralized and my vocal range was drastically reduced. I wasn't sure anything could help. Your vocal lessons helped me build my vocal strength and flexibility and my voice has come back nearly 100%.
Thanks for going with me to consult with my ENT doctor. Your support has really helped. You brought up questions I didn't even think of.
Also, I work in a very loud workplace and you taught me how to project my voice not only for singing but to speak at work without damaging my voice. What started as physical therapy has been quite a journey of self discovery that I didn't expect. I love this class! I've learned so much about singing and about myself.
I am getting older and my voice has changed a lot.
I've sang my whole life. When I was younger I performed at recitals and plays etc. My voice began to change after menopause. Now in my 70's it's become weaker and I have a constant tickle that causes me to cough and clear my throat all the time. I'd lost a lot of confidence in my singing and was really shy to sing in front of people, so I took your class. You helped me build my vocal range and I could sing notes I haven't been able to sing in years! That gave me my confidence back. What really surprised me though, was when we discovered that a certain point in my range would trigger the tickle sensation. You suggested that I ask my doctor at my next visit to check for a bump or ridge on the lower 1/3 of my left vocal cord. You were exactly right! My doctor was amazed that you not only nailed the issue but located the spot it was located! Thank you for working with my doctor to help me find this and for all the vocal exercises that helped smooth it out.
I CAN SING AGAIN!
I would highly recommend You as a Voice Teacher!
I just wanted to thank you so very much for the patience & care you've shown me during my singing lessons. I came in with little confidence or hope that I could ever really sing & you have done a wonderful job of nurturing me along & coaxing me out of my shell to where I feel much more confident in my singing voice & feel that I do have a potentially good singing voice which is getting better all the time!
Your combination of the physical aspect through yoga & voice technique, along with the emotional & spiritual sides of singing is very effective & it has really enabled me to establish sound fundamentals & connect with my voice & the feelings associated with the music. I am really just starting but I feel I can really develop my voice through what you have taught me and I am so appreciative of you & what you have done!
Thank you again Anastasia & I would highly recommend anyone interested in developing their voice to select you as their voice teacher!
With Much Aloha,
A remarkable thing has happened....
I left the practice CD of vocal exercises you gave me in my car player, and every time I drive somewhere I work on them.
As a result, I have discovered the register shifts we've talked about in class.
Now, I never have to drop down the octave to do any of the exercises, like I did before. I just keep going up without strain or shrillness, and I find I'm up there in Sting/McCartney territory, which I never imagined possible until quite recently......Now I have all this new range and power!
Thank you Anastasia!
You're a great performance coach!
I'm so glad my friend recommended you to me for voice lessons!
I learned so much in my 6 sessions with you and felt totally prepared to perform at the biggest gig (so far) in my life. It was a success, thanks in great part to you, giving me tools and confidence in my voice.
Your information about the simplicity of the foundational ways of being which allow us to sing well was so applicable. Now, I have a manageable warm-up routine and practice to strengthen the quality of my voice.
The thing that surprised me the most was that you were also a great performance coach! You helped me with details of putting together a show and what works best. You taught me how to deal with difficulties (such a an urge to sneeze, or what to do when the voice cracks.) All was invaluable and applicable advise.
The hardest thing to thank you for is not easily to put into words. I would say you come from the essence of music, of voice. Your love for it makes all the difference. You showed me how relaxation allows the voice and music to flow most beautifully. That grounded me in a new confidence that helped me express my love of singing and music through the foundation of my delivery.
You were delightful to learn from and be with.
Big warm-hearted mahalo!
I accomplished all my goals through your class....
"When I embarked for the first time in my life to take vocal lessons I had two major goals:
(1) To develop my head voice and (2) To improve my vocal stamina and overall vocal strength. Within a short time, with Anastasia, I accomplished BOTH goals, and the confidence I now have in my voice is astonishing. I have the tools I need to continue to improve and she has taught me how to RELAX. Anastasia's integration of yoga with practical vocal instruction makes so much sense, and it really proves the notion that my entire body is my instrument, not merely just my vocal chords."
